Ph.D. Scholar in Sustainability Education
Special Education Teacher, PATH Intl. CTRI / Mentor,
and XR Education Coach

Rohana is a high school Special Education teacher with hidden disabilities (i.e., physical and twice-exceptional [2e]) completing her Ph.D. in Sustainability Education focusing on immersive learning and situated learning for underserved students. Her corporate STEM background (including grant writing, government technical writing, contract administration, and procurement)  provides context for academic content applications for all learners. She became a PATH International riding instructor in 2010. A career change to teaching special education happened in 2015 after a work injury earned her hidden disabilities.

After completing her Master in Teaching degree in 2018, she received a scholarship to pursue a Ph.D. in Special Education. This led to her being introduced to immersive learning, initially virtual reality (VR) and later extended reality (XR). Immersive learning provides all learners the ability to learn anything, anywhere, at any time. This in combination with situated learning (e.g., project-based learning and apprenticeships) is especially beneficial for students with learning disabilities, 2e, and Autism to practice skills to build mastery.

Rohana is passionate about collaborating with innovative technology companies, diverse community partners, and shareholders to empower underserved youth and those with neurodiversity to become innovators and sustainability solutionaries in the global creative economy.

Whether you want to learn more about emerging technologies and immersive learning or are curious about increasing wellness through connections with horses, Rohana will help you identify goals, collaborate on a plan of learning, and coach you along your learning/wellness journey.

Rohana is currently seeking to connect with 5-10 students who use virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality for learning or entertainment.  In exchange for answering a short survey and interview (e.g., in real life or virtually) regarding your use of immersive learning over an 8-week session, complimentary coaching sessions are available. Email to sign up or for more information.

Rohana and Etch have a limited number of coaching session openings available beginning June 15, 2024, for students ages 4 and up. Let's connect today!
